FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP – Franklin Township supervisors are planning to replace the current police chief with a township native.
Supervisor Curt Steffler said nothing has been done officially, but Chief Bob Morrison will resign and supervisors intend to hire Joe O’Shea as police chief. O’Shea is a township native who is currently a Beaver County sheriff’s deputy, said Steffler.
“We just wanted a little bit more. He’s agreed to move on,” Steffler said Wednesday of Morrison.
Steffler called the expected resignation by Morrison a “mutual decision” between supervisors and Morrison.
Calls to Morrison Wednesday and Thursday for comment went unreturned.
Steffler said he did not know when the police chief change would be made.
The supervisors next schedule meeting is Oct. 13.
